My favourite country in the world (so far)

My favourite country in the world (so far)

Oh the shame! The epic fail!  The complete and utter mortification!

I fell asleep whilst blogging last night. I had planned on taking you all on a whirlwind road trip around the stunning US state of Colorado but now, with only an hour to spare before I have to be at school, we must make alternative and slightly shorter travel plans.

I therefore have a question to pose to you my delicious Warriors:

Out of all the countries that you have visited thus far during your lifetime which one is your favourite and why?  Which destination has captured your imagination and your heart and beckons you to return?

One country I have visited stands supreme in my mind in terms of the people, the food, the culture and the overall sense of awe and adventure.  I had wanted to go there for a very, very long time.  One day, at the  age of 30, I was in my classroom and an article I was reading with my students featured this particular country. It called to me once again, deep within my soul, and this time I answered the call. That very lunchtime I took to the internet, found a 2 week humanitarian project I could undertake and "CLICK!" - I was off to...

PERU!

That was April of 2009 and I was so throughly enchanted by this iconically beautiful country that I returned in July of 2009.  And I have every intention or going back for a third visit when the time is right, such is the hold that Peru has on my little Scottish heart.  And these are just a few of the reasons why:

Don't you just want to eat her alive?? Look at those eyes!!!  I could very easily have come home with a suitcase full of Peruvian children but I resisted the urge.  Child trafficking is frowned upon in general society.

NOW OVER TO YOU MY WARRIORS!

Please post a picture of your favourite destination but more importantly tell me WHY it is so very special to you!  I can't wait to be taken around the world, Warrior style!!

 Ginger Warrior, over and out.

  1. Great pictures of Peru. Looks amazing. Enjoying GINGER WARRIOR.

Barbados in November was wonderul. Friendly people too.

  2. I have loads of fave destinations Kerry ,including scotland ,Mexico,Havana ,Amsterdam but for your blog I have chosen Marrakech ( well a little camp outside ) .scarabeo camp is where I chose to spend my 40th birthday celebration with girlfriends under the stars !!

  3. My favourite country has to be Australia where I was lucky enough to live for 1 year when I was 12 years old. I loved the “Home & Away ” lifestyle of Avalon beach near Sydney where I would come home from school and go surfing! Lots of great memories, such as, boxing with a kangaroo, finding a tarantula in the paper draw at school and being chased around the garden by an angry nest of red back spiders I’d disturbed!

  4. Niagara on the Canadian side. Better than the US side by far :-)

  5. After reading other contributions on this page I’m going to sound soooo boring but my most favourite country to visit is France. Having a husband who dislikes flying restricts distances somewhat which is why France is a favourite destination for us. Over the years we have stayed in various areas and loved them all. Nice was sunny and elegant, Paris was just Paris (love it to bits) but my most favourite of them all is Pont Remy in Normandy. We always hire a house on the banks of The Somme surrounded by acres of of woodland and open fields. What more could we want? The people are great too.

  6. Romania. It’s where I met my favorite Scottish warrior. Plus, I haven’t traveled much and it’s the only country I’ve been too beside Canada. I was also there long enough to love the people and culture. Even the current.

  7. Hello Ceri only me (again)
Slight geographical error in my last message. I just thought I’d move Port Remy from it’s usual position in Picardy to Normandy. Put it down to age!

  8. The Argentine; because my Mother lives there…….AND BECAUSE IT’S AWESOME!!!!!

  9. I loved Florida, there was so much to do seaworld, discovery cove, aquatica, 4 disney parks and more. Is was fun seeing how big the portions were eg a large coke is 2 litres! It was also so warm and only rained in the afternoon when we got back to the hotel. I wanma go back there so badly!!!!!!
