Review: Red Velvet Cake Pop Kit!

Review: Red Velvet Cake Pop Kit!

This lovely lady is called Becca, and she is the founder of The Baking Tree, a small cottage industry borne in 2012 out of Becca’s passion for baking. I met Becca at the Cake and Bake Show a couple of weeks ago in London where she offered me a sample of one of her cake pops. I liked it. A lot. So much so that I MAY have swiped another when no-one was looking. Sorry Becca, but it’s your own fault for making them so irresistibly delicious. Share the...
Ebola: scared or skeptical?

Ebola: scared or skeptical?

Back in 1994, when I was 16, I read a book called “The Hot Zone” by Richard Preston. It’s a non-fiction thriller which explores the origins of the Ebola and Marburg viruses. It also describes in grim and gory detail the devastating effect these filoviruses have on the humans they invade. I read the book in awe accompanied by a healthy dose of fear. I remember thinking that I could not possibly imagine a more terrifying disease to contract.  “A slate wiper”, I seem to recall was the turn of phrase used by some of the characters when referring to Ebola. It is the most common inherited cause of learning disability and the leading single gene cause of autism. Yet surprisingly few people have heard of it. The condition is called Fragile X Syndrome. Have you heard of it? If not, let me fill you in. Share the...
Guess the celebrity babies! There’s a prize!!

Guess the celebrity babies! There’s a prize!!

Ok, so today I’m meant to be giving you and all singing and all dancing review of a fabulously stylish overnight bag and that review is still very much on the cards!  But you know what? I woke up today with a thick, fuzzy throat, puffy red eyes, a big snotty nose and head like mush – the kind of head that is not conducive to writing the eloquent, rave review that the bag deserves.  So I’m going to save it for next week and instead present you with a little bit of celebrity nonsense. Because whether we like to admit it or not we all like a little celebrity nonsense now and again! Harmless, mind-numbing fun. That’s what we’ll call it! Share the...
